A circulator pump is a closed-circuit pump that circulates gases, liquids, or slurry. They're frequently seen circulating water in a hydronic heating or cooling system.

The apparatus described above has a pump that lifts the water from A to B and circulates it in a closed-loop system (versus lifting a fluid from the point of lower potential energy to the point of higher potential energy in an open-loop system).

The hydronic circulator pump is generally an electric centrifugal pump in hydronic systems. They're typically tiny, sealed, and rated at a fraction of horsepower in residential applications, but they may be huge, with the electric motor separated from the pump body by a mechanical link, in commercial usage.

 

A vacuum pump is a type of industrial pump that uses a vacuum to remove gas molecules or air particles from a confined space in order to create a pressure difference and a partial vacuum. Vacuum pumps are available in a variety of designs depending on the application and pressure needs.

It's critical to size a vacuum pump system to the correct settings in order for it to perform at its peak. A vacuum can be utilized to power or help mechanical equipment. In hybrid and diesel cars, a pump on the engine (usually on the camshaft) creates a vacuum.

Instead, in gasoline engines, a vacuum is created as a result of the engine's operation and the throttle plate's flow limitation, but an electric vacuum pump can strengthen it to increase braking force or save fuel.
